Dr. Prabhu obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from BIET, Davangere, Mysore University (1989), his M.Tech degree in Biomedical Engineering from MIT, Manipal with first rank from Mangalore University (1994) and his PhD from IIT, Madras (2001). 

Professor Dr. Gopalakrishna Prabhu K, President, Manipal University Jaipur, has been associated with the Manipal Group for over two decades in various academic and leadership positions. Dr. Prabhu, born in Karala where he completed his schooling. He obtained his B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mysore University in 1989. With a passion for applying engineering principles to solve problems of medicine and biology, he pursued his M. Tech in Biomedical Engineering in 1994 from Manipal Institute of Technology, Mangalore University (with the university’s first rank) and Ph.D. in 2001 from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Dr. Prabhu started his career as Lecturer in Electronics and Communication Engineering, MIT, Manipal in 1989. Since then, he has served the institute in various capacities such as Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Associate Director (Research & Development) and Deputy Registrar (Technical), Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal (Deemed University). One of his most notable achievements is that he served the University in the prestigious post of Registrar for seven and half years. In September 2015, he was appointed as Director, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal. In April 2017 he was, additionally, appointed as the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Technology and Management), in which capacity he was responsible for the development and implementation of University’s Strategic Plan for its engineering and management institutions. As an acclaimed teacher, he has carved out a niche for himself. With his passion for research, he has several publications in reputed national and international journals.

He was honoured with the “Shri Shyam Lal Saxena Memorial Award” from the National Academy of Medical Sciences for his published work in Biomedical Engineering in 2007. Dr. Prabhu is an active member of the “Biomedical Engineering Society of India” (BMESI), a professional body and was the Secretary of this association during 2002-08. As Director MIT, he has led several student-focused initiatives, including initiating the upgradation and modernization of the MIT campus and infrastructure. His open-door empathetic approach and management style continue to win him admiration and plaudits from his colleagues, faculty, and students. For his several achievements and his contributions to the local community, the District Administration has honored him with the ‘Udupi District Kannada Rajyostava Award’ in November 2017.

Dr Nitu Bhatnagar is appointed as the Registrar of Manipal University Jaipur, with effect from August 01, 2021. She was working at Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) as Deputy Registrar (Academics) from October 14, 2019 and Additional Registrar since June 10, 2021.

Dr Nitu Bhatnagar is Professor in the Department of Chemistry, School of Basic Sciences, MUJ. She did her BSc and MSc from Pt. RSS University, Chhattisgarh and PhD from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, SMU, Sikkim. During her PhD, she received the prestigious Women Scientist Fellowship from Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. After successful completion of her PhD, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the department of ICNTAA at SMIT. She joined Manipal University Jaipur on 3rd July 2012. Apart from teaching, she has contributed actively at the departmental level for curriculum framing, lab development, organizing conferences etc, and performed administrative responsibilities at University level as Member, Secrecy & Confidential section of Exam (2013) Associate Faculty coordinator, Cultural Activities (2015-2017), Digital Coordinator, Fos (2015-2018), Master of Ceremony in many of the flagship events, including Convocations. She has the honour of receiving President’s award in 2017 for her excellent & dedicated contribution to MUJ.

She has more than 14 years of teaching and research experience while working with various Institutions, which includes her 13 years of experience with the Manipal group. She has published 5 book chapters and 27 research articles in international journals of repute, including 15 SCI/Scopus publications. She has delivered many lectures as keynote/ Invited speaker. She has presented more than 28 research papers in various conferences in India & Abroad. She has been Invited as Visiting Faculty at CUHK, Hong Kong under Academic Visitors Scheme of CUHK.  She has collaborated with many researchers in India and abroad. As member, Royal Society of Chemistry, London, she has organized two RSC-PDP programs for school teachers and one Salters’ camp. Her area of research includes nanocomposites, ayurvedic bhasma, plasma surface modification and adhesive technology. One student has been awarded PhD Degree under her guidance, one has submitted his thesis, & four research scholars are pursuing their PhD degree. She has been a SMILE 4 participant and has a copyright granted on “Academic Audit Framework”.

Cmdre Jangir has over 30 years of work experience in the Indian Navy, 4 years in a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and after retirement from the PSU, he has been involved full time in academics. He has done various assignments whilst in the Indian Navy which range from strategic planning, operations, maintenance, human resource management, quality assurance, infrastructure planning & development and training/academics. Whilst in the Indian Navy, he served in various organisations both in India and abroad. Cmde Jangir had also done a tenure of about three and half years in Nigeria as Defence Adviser with concurrent accreditation of other nearby countries.

His educational qualifications include B Tech (Electrical) from Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala, MSc (Engg) from RNEC, Manadon, UK; MSc (Defence and Strategic Studies) from University of Madras; and Master Diploma in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Management, Pune. He obtained his PhD (Business Administration), from AMU, Aligarh. In addition, he has undergone Technical Management Training at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai; Knowledge Management Course at IIM, Ahmedabad and Senior Defence Management Course at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.

Whilst in the PSU, as an Executive Director, he steered the Make in India Programme and contributed in immense measures to give the requisite boost to the Make in India Programme by indigenising many equipment/items with the help of the Indian Industry and foreign collaboration. He also navigated the CSR programme and executed a large number of innovative projects and was declared as one of the top 25 leaders in India, who have made significant impact in the lives of the poor. He was also instrumental in winning the CSR excellence award for Public Sector Enterprises instituted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. He was also responsible for administration of the Shipyard with strength of over 10,000 personnel/employees.

Prior to joining Manipal University Jaipur in September 2021, he had worked in two other universities as Professor, Director and Pro Vice Chancellor. Since joining Manipal University Jaipur as a Professor, Cmde Jangir was assigned the responsibilities of Provost and Director School of Business & Commerce. In addition, he was also the Dean-in-Charge, Faculty of Management and Commerce for about eight months.

Prof (Dr) Amit Soni is currently working as Director SEEC, Manipal University Jaipur with effect from 5th July 2022. He did his BE Electrical (Electronics & Power) Engineering in 2001, scoring first rank and was awarded ‘Gold Medal’ for his outstanding academic performance. He had done his MTech (Power System) in 2005 and PhD (Power System) in 2012, both from MNIT, Jaipur. He has rich Academic & research experience of 21 years which includes 3 years of industrial experience in RRVPNL, Jaipur.

He had worked as Director (International Collaborations), Manipal University Jaipur and contributed towards MoU’s/MoA’s with top QS Ranked Universities, Faculty & Student exchanges, successfully organizing DoIC Flagship events IWSMUJ - 2022 (Winter School), ISSMUJ -2022 (Summer School), Academic structuring of existing MoU’s and IAESTE Events. He had worked as Director (Quality & Compliance), Manipal University Jaipur and successfully contributed for NIRF Ranking 2021, AQAR-1 and NBA visit for 5 Engineering Departments. He had served as Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, Manipal University Jaipur, for a duration of 4.5 years and had organized several National & International Workshops, Scopus Indexed International Conferences: 1st & 2nd Series ICTSES 2018 & 2021 (Springer Publisher), initiated MoUs & collaborative agreements and successfully developed research laboratories in the Department. In addition to this, before joining MUJ he had served in various administrative capacities such as Director, Asians Institute of Technology, Rajasthan, Head EE, Coordinator & Chairman for different Academic Committees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

He has published 100 research papers which includes 30 papers in high impact repute SCI indexed International Journals (Q1 & Q2 category), 50 Scopus Indexed IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier conferences, and have also published 15 Scopus Indexed book chapters. He has to his credit several Invited Talks & Keynote addresses and had chaired/co-chaired sessions in various conferences. He is regular reviewer of research articles for many high impact journals. His research interest includes Solar Energy Materials, Optoelectronics, Thin Film Technology, Photovoltaics, Renewable Energy Systems and Power System. He had supervised 3 PhDs and 6 research scholars are currently working under his supervision. He is presently working as PI for DST SERB funded (18.66 Lakh) research project in collaboration with MLSU, Udaipur and NIT, Uttarakhand. He is life member of Solar Energy Society of India, Member ISTE, India and IEEE, USA
